Dahlia Show Judging Class |

Hello, LIDS members, The following is an email that we received from our nearby fellow dahlia society, the Mid Island Dahlia Society (MIDS). MIDS has graciously agreed to allow some LIDS members participate in its class on how to judge ADS-sanctioned dahlia shows. We are very much hoping that some of our members will take this class to become appropriately qualified. We are always in need of new judges for the shows. We have been advised that there are some caveats regarding eligibility for the class. You MUST be a member of the American Dahlia Society (if you are not already a member, go to the ADS website and join), you must be a member of LIDS and/or MIDS. We are strongly encouraging people interested in this class to become members of MIDS, as they have always been generous in collaborating with LIDS in various aspects of our mutual needs and it's appropriate to show them our support. Additionally, you must agree to judge at least three shows this year. That can be accomplished by judging MIDS' trial garden in August, and the 2026 LIDS and MIDS shows. if you can agree to these stipulations and wish to take the class, please follow the instructions below, as outlined by Robert Fackovick. Candidate Judging Class (June 2026) We are planning a special one-month class in June (four weekly Zoom sessions) to help interested dahlia growers to become American Dahlia Society (ADS) Candidate Judges. This will be an excellent opportunity to learn more about growing, showing, and judging dahlias with a fun class in just one month. We will review the details of the class during our next meeting on June 1st. To register for this class, please send an email (Subject: Judging Class) to our email address (MidsDahlias@gmail.com) with your full name, cell phone number, and email address. We will add you to the list and send out more information after the June 1st meeting. Note: People on the dahlia class have to agree to show some flowers at least at one show.
